Not all urban design is about creating an urban environment. In some places it's about creating a feeling ... sense of place ... engendering relaxation and the holiday spirit. The design of the Smiths Point resort in the south-western corner of WA was about distilling the essence of the traditional bare-foot, beach-side summer holiday and turning it into a real place for the next generation of wave riders and beach cricketers.
